A Virtual Machine is a way to get pre-installed software ready to run on your own system. You might have heard of [http://wiki.opengatecollaboration.org/index.php/VGate vGATE] for instance used by the OpenGATE project. You can of course install STIR in vGATE using the normal STIR installation instructions. However, we have also created a VM with our own software (currently without GATE). The VM currently runs Ubuntu 18.04.

Instructions to get STIR via a Virtual Machine[edit]

A Virtual Machine is a way to get pre-installed software ready to run on your own system. You might have heard of vGATE for instance used by the OpenGATE project. You can of course install STIR in vGATE using the normal STIR installation instructions. However, we have also created a VM with our own software (currently without GATE).

Installation instructions[edit]

1. Download the OVA file from http://www.ccpsynerbi.ac.uk/downloads and follow links on that page for instructions.

3. Once this is done, open a Terminal on your VM and type update_VM_to_full_STIR.sh (be patient 2gain).

4. If you want to follow the STIR exercises, check the README.md

Outcome[edit]

Your VM will now have an up-to-date version of STIR (and the SIRF software of our related project at http://www.ccpsynerbi.ac.uk/), and also a copy of the STIR-exercises in the home directory.
